Airport Options

Sedona does not have its own commercial airport, but there are several airports within driving distance. The closest airports to Sedona are Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) is the closest airport to Sedona, located approximately 30 miles (45 minutes via ground transportation) to the north. It's a small regional airport that primarily serves domestic flights from major airlines such as American Airlines and United Airlines.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is located approximately 120 miles (2 hours via gro9und transportation) south of Sedona and is a major airport that serves both domestic and international flights. Many major airlines fly to PHX, including Delta, Southwest, and United.

Generally speaking, if you are okay paying a little more money for your flights and have a more flexible schedule for your arrival/departure (due to potential delays), Flagstaff is the much more popular choice when flying into Sedona, especially taking into consideration the scenic drive down 89A through Oak Creek Canyon to get from Flagstaff to Sedona.

Transportation Options

Once you've arrived at the airport, you have several options for transportation to Sedona.

Rental Car: Renting a car is a popular option for travelers visiting Sedona. Both FLG and PHX airports have car rental services available.

Shuttle Service: Shuttle services provide a convenient and cost-effective way to get from the airport to Sedona. Several companies offer shuttle services from both FLG and PHX airports, and advance booking is recommended. We highly recommend Groome Transportation, as they have hourly shuttles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and is the popular choice among Sedona locals.

Taxi or Ride Share: Taxis and ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft are available at both FLG and PHX airports. However, keep in mind that the cost can be higher compared to other transportation options. There are currently no ride-share services located in Sedona so it is important to take this into consideration during your stay.

Choosing the right airport and transportation options can make all the difference in your travel experience to Sedona. Whether you choose to fly into Flagstaff Pulliam Airport or Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, there are several options for transportation to get to your final destination. Consider your budget, travel itinerary, and personal preferences to choose the option that works best for you. With proper planning and research, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip to Sedona.
