A Note on Wilderness Areas, Permits & Leave No Trace

Sedona is surrounded by protected land, including designated Wilderness areas governed by the Wilderness Act of 1964. In these areas, commercial photography, videography, and organized ceremonies are not allowed without special permits—which are rarely issued for weddings.

This includes popular locations like Devil’s Bridge, Bell Rock, and West Fork.

Your wedding vendors should follow Leave No Trace principles and all local, state, and federal regulations. That means:

  • No off-trail travel

  • No damaging vegetation or soil

  • No crowding sensitive areas

  • No illegal ceremonies or commercial shoots

Protecting Sedona is non-negotiable—and honestly, it leads to a better experience anyway. This is also why I highly recommend hiring Sedona local wedding vendors for your elopement or wedding - we know the nitty gritty details that will keep your wedding beautiful, stress-free, and legal!

Unfortunately, weddings and elopements are not allowed at Devil's Bridge or within any designated wilderness area.

A Little Local Honesty

Yes, I know other locations.

No, I don’t put all of them on the internet.

Some of the best spots I use are locations I share only with my booked couples—places I’ve learned through years of shooting in Sedona, understanding access rules, lighting, timing, and logistics.

If you want help choosing a location that fits your vision and stays legal, ethical, and stress-free, that’s exactly what I do!
